To pass a Rajasthan Board examination you must score at least 33% in each subject and at least 33% in aggregate. This rule applies to both the Secondary (Class 10) and Senior Secondary (Class 12) examinations.
Class 10
Most Class 10 subjects are marked out of 100: 80 for the theory paper and 20 for sessional (internal assessment) marks given by the school. The minimum is 33 out of 100 overall, with a separate minimum in each part. For an 80-mark paper, 33% works out to about 26 marks, and for the 20-mark sessional part about 7 marks. A few subjects use a different split, so check the examination scheme for your subject.
With six main subjects of 100 marks each, the aggregate is out of 600, so the 33% aggregate minimum is 198.
Class 12
Every subject carries 100 marks. Languages and subjects without practicals usually have an 80-mark theory paper with 20 sessional marks. Science subjects with practicals have a smaller theory paper and a practical plus sessional component. You must reach 33% in the theory and practical parts separately, not only in the subject total.
What happens if you fall short
| Situation | Usual result |
|---|---|
| 33% or more in every subject and in aggregate | Pass |
| Below 33% in one or two subjects | Supplementary – you can clear those subjects in the supplementary exam |
| Below 33% in more than two subjects | Fail – reappear in the next main examination |
Always confirm with the official scheme
Marks splits are set in the board’s syllabus and examination scheme for each session, which is published on rajeduboard.rajasthan.gov.in. If your subject’s scheme differs from the general pattern described here, the official scheme applies.
